The Tantric Devotional Practice of Masturbation

Q: Why do it?

A: Crazy with Joy

The Mastery of Sex & Bliss begins in passion and ends with insight.

So what is "tantric masturbation" all about? What's the big deal? Isn't cuming the whole point of having hardons? Cuming with as much volume and as much intensity and as often as possible?

Ignoring those blinded by contemporary culture to think that cocks and clits are only for making babies - no more than the regretably necessary evil of "procreation" according to the "Ancient Christian Holy Fathers", even most gaymen, like our fellow citizens in general, are often rather dismissive of "MASTURBATION" as being no more than a poor substitute for the real thing, as something "LOSERS" do, etc., etc.

And then to NOT EVEN CUM?

What's the point of that?

The answer to these questions, to these attitudes which have been so thoroughly, yet stealthily - unconsciously through the language with which we think - taught to those of us (see Tom Laqueur's EXCELLENT new book, "Solitary Sex - A Cultural History of Masturbation" [2003 New York: Zone Books]) who are infected by Western culture (which, somewhat regretably includes many in Asia to some degree) can only be gotten experientially: one has to DO IT to see why one wants to do it. A bit of a catch-22. But I can say what I find its virtues to be:

  1. to get more intense stimulation of the genitals;
  2. to reach altered, occasionally "higher" consciousness;
  3. to see/think things/ways-of-doing-things that you had not imagined;
  4. to carry an erotic charge afterwards through out the rest of the day;
  5. to bring greater zest and focus to your work and play;
  6. to heal yourself psychically by opening your awareness of your naked power;
  7. to open yourself to more spontaneous, more worthwhile social interaction;
  8. and, finally and a bit more overtly spiritually, to merge with the Divine (or the Numinous).

For me, the best part of my daily practice of tantric masturbation is reaching

Sustained Dry Orgasm -- SDO,

This can only be reached after first riding the edge for, perhaps, 15 minutes and, at least for me, if I DO cum, then I cannot do this until after a day or two of having ridden the edge for several periods / day. I do this with an index finger slowly rubbing the frenulum and with the middle finger of the other hand feeling the nonstop little waves of exquisite spasms of the prostate. The erotic plumbing is cuming in nonstop waves, barely not emitting cum. A few drops of cum may initiate the flow of precum the next time I ride the edge. When I get to this stage, my cock hardens up enormously -- I do not usually get all that hard, but when I get to this point, FINALLY I get truly "rock hard" and then my cock swells up even more if I am able to keep doing it and it gets quite perilous to avoid cuming as the first big quantity (~1/3 teaspoon) of precum comes out; getting past this stage puts me in sheer bliss, dopamine drenched mind/body and this state last for hours. I continue to taste the sweet flow of nectar as I walk, work out at the gym, read, work on the computer, etc.

One way of describing what is going on is to think that your divine energy source you were born with, your root chakra, your erotic energizer centered, say, at your sacral chakra and your unconscious will or force-of-self centered at your solar plexus - all three of these primal energizers - get tapped and start flowing into your three highest chakras: your conscious will(power), your third eye of integral consciousness and your crown chakra, powering you for hours. Your middle chakra, your heart, is the balancer/regulator of this flow, straddling your unconscious, primal driving energy and your conscious, divine, thinking self. For me, my tantric discipline taps into these amazing forces within to raise my awareness and power me with the continuing sense of deepest on-going bliss. My cock is truly my godhead, my Shiva in this devotional practice.

In fact, you will be "DAZZLING" when you become a steady practitioner:
